He completed his MBBS and MD (Internal Medicine) from M R Medical College, Gulbarga followed by DM (Cardiology) from Sri Jayadeva Institute Of Cardiology, Bangalore.

Dr. Shivanand has performed more than 15000 Cathlab procedures including diagnostic and interventional procedures. He specializes in Coronary Angioplasty (both radial & femoral), Mitral, Aortic & Pulmonary Valvuloplasties, Peripheral Angioplasties, Pacemaker Implantation, ASD, VSD & PDA device closures. He is an expert at interpreting complex rhythm abnormalities of heart; analyzing Holter monitoring, TMT, 2D Echochardiography & Transoesophageal Echocardiography.
He is also a distinguished academician and has delivered many lectures in various conferences and training programs and holds many publications to his name in various national & international journals. He has been associated with Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences & Research, Bangalore since 2007 as an Associate Professor of Cardiology and has been involved in teaching post graduates and junior consultants ever since.
